When we hired Micah and JD to remodel our home, we had seen several homes that they had completed before, and we knew they were going to do an amazing job. With that precedent, they still exceeded our expectations and made our home better than we had imagined. We had a vision for an updated modern version of our home that retained a few of the unique features and had a better transition between the indoor and outdoor spaces. We are particular about details and wanted to make sure that everything turned out just the way we wanted.

It didn’t take long to realize that they would ensure that every single detail was just right. We also realized that they were thinking about things that we (and probably other contractors) never would have thought of. The work they did themselves was top-notch. They also have a great relationship with all of the subcontractors, and made sure that the quality of the work was also up to their standards. A few times this meant having them come back to redo something that wasn’t just right.

Working with them was also a great experience and surprisingly very low stress. We were in constant communication about everything that was going on, what the expected timelines were, and how we were doing on the budget. Every expense was completely transparent and there were no surprises. We were able to choose all of the materials that we wanted and we knew what the impact on the budget would be. They were here every day working and we loved coming by to see the process and the progress regularly. We were excited because they were creating the home that we had dreamed of, and I felt like they were just as enthusiastic as we were.

It was apparent that they loved doing what they were doing, and that this was more than just a job to them. They are true craftsmen and artists. The results speak for themselves. We have a beautiful modern home that we will love for years to come. We still find ourselves just sitting in the home admiring the clean lines and timeless features that they have created. We are very fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with them and we would never consider working with anyone else for future projects. “We interviewed all of the recommended Kayenta contractors before deciding on Desert Concepts. Our decision was based on the way Micah and JD presented themselves. They know and love Kayenta, and understand how to build there. Most importantly, they listened carefully to both of us to understand what we wanted.

We built our house while we were still living 2,000 miles away. Because of how Micah and JD communicate, we felt completely informed and involved, as if we had been on site. They made sure to consult with us about important decisions, and also shared their excitement with progress, using photos and FaceTime.

What consistently comes through working with Micah is how much he cares about every aspect of his projects. He sweats the details, from systems to framing to finishes, and it shows. We came to rely on his keen sense of design; he had one eye on the “cool factor” and the other eye on the budget. We have done other building projects, and this has been by far the smoothest process and the best product. That is not an accident; it is the product of constant attention, hard work, and passion that Micah and JD brought to it.

“Micah served as our contractor on two substantial renovations at our home in Kayenta: a master bath addition and a major kitchen renovation. The master bath project required construction of a 100-square foot addition and installation of new plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems. Ceramic tile was installed throughout the bathroom. As an additional part of this project, substantial modifications were also made in our master bedroom, including new French doors and a walk-in closet. Several new windows were installed, and the entire exterior of the home was re-stuccoed. In the second project, we gutted the existing kitchen and installed new counters, cabinetry, appliances, fixtures, lighting, and tile. 

Micah worked closely with us on overall design and on selection of appliances, fixtures, and finishes. We appreciated his creative ideas and his knowledge of current design and technology. He coordinated with many different subcontractors, and did a great job of keeping them all on track. Both projects ran on an acceptable schedule (which in the St. George area, is a major accomplishment in itself). And, importantly, Micah was always accessible, attentive, professional, and good-natured. We now count him as a friend. 

He demonstrated that he cared about giving us what we wanted, while making suggestions for possibilities and details we hadn’t thought of. We were very pleased with the aesthetics and workmanship of both projects; both turned out beautifully. We recommend Micah and his team without reservation or hesitation.”
